VWCDPIC Audio Interface Adapter
Volkswagen 1998 and later automobiles are equipped with a trunk mounted CD Changer interface. This is great for hooking up an auxiliary audio device to your car’s sound system because it is pre-wired for you. However, Volkswagen’s OEM head units lock this interface from being used by anything but a Volkswagen CD Changer by muting the audio inputs unless there is a valid data stream coming from the CD Changer. The VWCDPIC Audio Interface Adapter is a « lock pick, » if you will, that unlocks the CD Changer interface by sending the required data stream, fooling the head unit into thinking a CD Changer is connected.
Modern Mechanix
Another glimpse from the past: pre-MAKE (and tru vintage) Modern Mechanix. On of the reasons I like those old DIY magazines is because good artists (that was long before color photography, best beloved) like Boris Artzybasheff drawed nice pictures there. (So I’m not surprised to see that boingboing has a lot of posts about Mr Artzybasheff).

Homebrew CPU Home Page
From the guy who build a homebrew CPU from scratch:
Although this site gets few visitors, I have on occasion gotten the comment that: (1) I have way too much time on my hands & (2) I must be single. Well, wrong on both counts! Married – 3 kids & two dogs, and not nearly enough time. I manage to make progress on the project by putting in the odd hour here and there and treating it as the multi-year effort that it is. It also helps that as far as my wife knows, I’m actually doing paying work on the laptop and not just screwing around with my hobby projects :-). (continued on the site’s home page, just scroll down)
